I've had these in the same tank for quite some time. However, it is a very large tank which is the only reason why I put them in together. It has many tall plants and hiding places all over and they seem to get along. But I would only do this is you have a very large tank. If I recall correctly the one I have is about a 45 gallon for just the 2 of them. I used to have two of each but now just one of each. Which I'm sure some may blame on housing them together but I never witnessed them fight or need to compete for food. So long as you provide enough food and enough space in my opinion its fine. Sorry for the long post
