We have the basic color phase of Brown snake here (brown) but also have a rarely seen "greenish" phase, too. I don't currently have any photos of those yet...but we have a good variety of Redbelly snakes in southern Minnesota. Colors range from black, brown, gray, and absolutely gorgeous golden! I once found a "blue" one, but the color in the photo just didn't show up. Back in 2004...I found a "colorless" or anerythristic (?) female. Dark black above with a creamy white belly underneath. (This was Not a Brown snake, as those are well out of range to the east) It was also not in shed and was obviously Very gravid! I released her after taking the photos. Now I kind of regret not bringing her home to see what the babies might have looked like. I kept looking under the same rock all the rest of that summer but never saw her again. Oh well...Just found the pic again. Thought you'd like to see her, too. TJ.
