Posted by: megalon at Thu Jun 19 17:56:52 2008 [ Report Abuse ] [ Email Message ] [ Show All Posts by megalon ] well, about 2 months ago i posted a message in the hybrids forum, where my spotted male practically violated my female eastern painted while TEMPORARILY sharing an enclosure.i accidently broke the painted's tank in a cleaning incident, and in the hour or so that it took me to go to wal-mart,get some aquarium silicone, and repair the painted tank, the male spotted was ALL over the female painted.i was hoping for eggs, just for s&g's,but sadly, she was killed by a dog that got into my backyard 2 weeks later.i had moved the painteds into my backyard pond, and i thought that a 2 1/2' chicken-wire fence would be enough to keep the turtles in,and potential predators out,but my new neighbors had a boxer that thought otherwise.well,if karma counts for anything,it was hit by a car a week later(sadly, not my car).so,lesson learned,i guess.no turtles that i truly value go into my backyard from now on,period.
