Question on feeder insects...

I bought a colony of feeder roaches for larger lizards and I was told to use a chicken 'layer mash' feed.

Normally I've been using the standard gut loading cricket feed, so I'm curious if this layer mash stuff is comparable?
Is it just as good for gut loading?
