I recently adopted a baby sulcata and am stocking up on info, so please bear with me.

I live in Corpus Christi, TX and from what I've read on here and other places the weather is ok for sulcata's to live outside once my tort hits about a year or so. My back yard is covered in Johnson grass, do I need to kill this off before I put him back
there or is Johnson grass an acceptable food source? I have st. augustine ( buffalo grass) in the front, would this be better?

Once I get an answer, I'll ask some more ?'s. Thanks
Todd
