Chams who climb their cage sides can break claws when they get caught in the mesh. If the mesh opening size is very small (like window screen) the tips get snagged and break off. If she is roaming the cage more often than usual she might be looking for a nesting site (you did say she's been on the bottom of the cage a lot). Veiled females can produce infertile clutches without breeding. You can get some larger diameter mesh and line the inside of the cage with it so she will end up climbing that instead. Look for Bird X netting for fruit trees or deer fence. The bigger issue is looking for a laying spot. If she's gaining weight suddenly she may need to deposit eggs.
