Thank you for the post. I moved the heat pad so that the front of the tank bisects the pad. This has cleared up the front pane of glass. So, I think if I get a pad that is bigger than the bottom of my tank, it might solve the problem.
Thank you for the info on the lamp. Those cons might not be too bad for my particular set up, so I could go back to that.
