Some other thoughts....

I have a Burmese and live in FL, so I already have the $100 ROC permit. However, it really is against the law in FL to purchase a pet from someone who doesn't have a Class III wildlife permit. With the new permitting system, you have to document where your newly purchased animal comes from, along with a reminder about that law. It would be very difficult to accept an iguana from an unpermitted entity at this point. I see it now with people trying to rehome their Burms on Craig's List. They don't have permits and many of the knowledgeable snake handlers who already have permits won't go near them for fear of FWC issues.

Personally, I don't think the FWC will add the iguana to the ROC list simply because while they are pests, they aren't a threat in the same way the larger carnivorous herps are. Their numbers have increased in S. FL. I went an my annual pilgrimage to the Keys and found several colonies, one huge colony in Key West, plus more of them basking along US 1 in the Lower Keys.
