I recently re-homed a 14 foot burm due to back injury. I've been deemed 80% disabled by the VA and have not been able to get him out as much as needed so I found a home more suitable to his needs. I still love herps and am looking at getting a panther chameleon (if that's spelled right).

Before I purchase the animal the cage must be flawless. I have a 4 foot tall by 2 ft wide squared cage I used to house rats. The cage is furniture worthy but will need renovations such as a waterproof inner lining so the moisture does deteriorate the wood. It is currently 1/2 inch chicken wire on 3 sides and the front door. I can drill through the top, bottom, or whatever to make it right but am looking for "what you would have done better" in the cages you have made. I have about $700 at my disposal (was set aside for a larger burm enclosure).

Do any of you use radient heat panels for heat? I'm thinking a soil bottom with live plants, drip or mist system, light at the top etc. So what ideas do you have that makes cleaning easier and provides a healthier living environment for your pet?

Thanks in advance!
