I have read from the tortoise trust about red-foots that fruit comprises about 70% of their diet during the wet season, and 40% of the dry season. This information was based on field studies in South America.
Most of the caresheets I see online, suggests to feed red-foots fruit once or two times a week. I have seen some caresheets that say to offer red-foots, 50% fruit and protein combined. Which probably equates to 40-45% fruit and 5-10% protein.
It seems like fruits and flowers make up a good amount of a red-foots natural diet, but in captivity they are mostly fed greens and a small percentage of fruit.
Anyone have any input? A lot of this information can be confusing to new keepers.
