I wanted to bring this post up to the top in case some might miss it.

"Bert passed away today at 14:45 central time. He will be cremated tomorrow, Tuesday. There will be a memorial later in the year, but no date has been set yet. It will probably be many weeks or several months from now.

Sincerely,
Timo Langerwerf, Bert's son."

Yesterday we lost a brilliant pioneer and icon in the herp community. Bert was one of a kind...intelligent, forward thinking yet simple, kind, and so generous when sharing his knowledge of reptiles. The few times that I had the good fortune to speak with him I left feeling like a friend. Many will deeply mourn his passing.
