You will find some keepers use night lights, some don't.
I didn't for years and recently went over to a simple little night light that goes on when the other lights go off. This gives just enough light to see into the enclosure and not enough to bother the animals. As cresteds are nocturnal, you will find that they will naturally be far more active once the lights go out at night.
Some folks also use 'red' lights as well with success. As mentioned, stay away from the heat lights and you should be fine.
