My father in law found a large female red ear a few months back wandering around a property he maintains. He thought it was lost, but it was just looking for an egg laying site. She laid them next to my pond, and long story short, I now have 4 babies. I drained the pond to make sure I didn't miss any. Originally I only found 2, and I figured racoons/birds/adult turtles had got the rest. Then a month later two more showed up. I dug the nest up after finding the first two and found 8 empty shells, so either these other two were hiding in the plants around the pond, or there was a second nest. All 4 have the coolest red dot in the center of thier head. I'm keeping two and found homes for the other two with the stipulation that they return them if they can't care for them later.
