Once in a while you get lucky with an individual animal, and they'll eat about anything you drop in. Others will starve before accepting any prey item. I had good luck with a particular Drymarchon margaratiferous- wild caught in Central America- the males are spectacularly colored. Over a 7-year period, he ate mostly pinky mice, sometimes minnows from his water dish, small frogs and an occasional anole. A second example purchased at the same time from the same importer would only eat anoles, and died in 2 months. Luck of the draw, I'd say- don't be discouraged by the first one you get. I've also seen photos of the rarest racer known- a handleable adult Red Coachwhip!
