The record is 74", and the average adult size between 30 and 55". Taxispilota comes in second with a record length of 69", and a slightly larger average of 30 - 60". Someone who has a more recent copy of the Eastern US Peterson Field Guide may have a larger and more updated record for these animals. The next two largest Nerodia are the Diamondback (63 inches) and the Red-Bellied water snake (62 inches). The remainder top out at about 50-55" as far as the records go, as of 1975 anyhow .
