The only time I've seen anything like that was when mine's temps got too high briefly - we don't have central air, and hadn't moved the geckos to the room with the A/C yet that year, and it got too hot one day. I wasn't actually there for it, but my GF said the gecko was basically throwing herself around the enclosure. She put a bag of ice over the top of the enclosure in order to cool things down until I could get home to move them to the other room. (She couldn't really lift the cages to move them very easily.)
