I was given a baby Eastern Kingsnake as a gift. The snake was about a month old. I was sick at the time and put him in a cage with an ill fitting lid without thinking. He escaped once, and I found him. I should have moved him to a different cage, but instead just added two extra clamps to the lid. He escaped again on about November 1, I'm figuring. I didn't discover him missing until the next day. I searched everywhere I could with the exception of behind huge appliances, which I can't move. I put a pinkie out by his cage, which was gone about two days after his escape. I have tried this since in several rooms, but none of these pinkies were eaten. I used the flour trick. It was never disturbed. Nor have I had any luck using crinkly foil behind the furniture to hear movement. This is now the 21st, so he's been missing for three weeks. A further worry is the covered baseboards here are steam heated, which I'm afraid could have scalded him if he went into one to hide. There is however, lots of furniture and shelves in this house where he could hide also. Everyone tells me even baby snakes are very good survivalists. If anyone knows any other tricks for finding him, please let me know. Also, with him being so little (about eight inches long and 1/4 inch thick, if that much) do you think there is any chance he is still alive in here somewhere and could still be found at his size and age? I am really beating myself up over this and keep hoping and searching for him everyday. Thank you.
