Recently I came into possession of a large female RES. I would like to keep her with my male but I've had him alone for 16 years, I tried them out together yesturday but he kept following her around and occasionally nipped at her. I don't know if this is standard turtle meeting behavior or if this could lead to disaster. As I've said, I have had the male for 16 years and am terrified at the thought of him getting a leg bitten off or some nonsense. Any advice or tips? I took her as a rescue, the original owner had her in a 10g with no filter, land or light. He even had intentions of releasing her. If she has to go that is fine by me but if there is a chance they can co-exist I would prefer to go that route.
