Hi, sorry it took so long to get here anyway I do not have a positive answer for you, as my day gecko never had this problem, but I do know other types of geckos such a cresties can get what is called floppy tail, the tail seems to not have strength in it at the base, and can lean to one side or the other, or have a curved appearance.

It is unknown today whether this is a generic flaw, calcium deficiency, or injury related.

As I said I'm unsure of what could be wrong with your guy but do know floppy tail does affect some geckos.

I would have him looked at by a vet and see what he thinks.
