I just tend to go a little nuts when people buy animals without finding out how to take care of them first. I really feel like when you get a new pet, it's your responsibility to know how to take care of it and give it the best life you can, and that's obviously impossible if you don't do any research first. Sounds like you at least had somewhat of an idea what you were doing, which, while not necessarily great, is a lot better than what I thought your situation was based on your initial post.
