The Northern Desert Horned Lizard (dark specimen) was found
in the same area where normals were found.

The specific area had some dark shale on the ground but
didn't seem like that was the reason for the animal being
that dark. This specimen and others were found north of
Reno.I have no close-up images of the animal. I walked
black lava flows but never found any dark individuals.
I have seen as many as 40 specimens in one day but all
normals.

One interesting thing I did find were specimens in areas
were salt was present. Many specimens in those areas
had what appeared to be salt cones around their nostrils. The '
only thing I can attribute that to was while eating ants they
lapped up salt and then excreted it through their nostrils.
