All salamanders are carnivorous. They feed on animal matter that is small enough to swallow whole, not distasteful or toxic, and nutritious enough to be worth eating. That means mostly worms, insects and other invertebrates. Yum yum. ![](images/smiles/smile.gif)
Blind salamanders mostly live in caves, where the water is usually relatively stable in temperature and most likely cool, very clean and well oxygenated. These conditions are not easy to duplicate in captivity. Unless you are doing research on them, it is best to look for more common salamander species that may require much less care.
