Aren't only a few types of CA native snakes legal to buy or sell at all, though? I think I read somewhere that California Kingsnakes and Rosy Boas are legal to sell (and maybe a couple other ones)... But if I wanted to buy something like a California Red-Sided Garter, that would illegal under just about any circumstance (whether the snake was LTC or CB, the seller was in California or another state, had permits and stuff, etc). Same for Rubber Boas... I don't think there is any way for a hobbyist in California to purchase them legally, even if they are from a population originating in another state.

I just found a PDF of the laws here: http://www.dfg.ca.gov/licensing/pdffiles/fg1502.pdf

It looks like only California Kings, Pacific Gopher Snakes, and Rosy Boas are legal for trade.
