Dawn,

Females tend to lay 1 or 2 eggs every 2-3 weeks. The eggs are VERY fragile as you have obviously noticed. I used to scoop them out with a spoon as I couldn't ever remove them by hand without breaking them.

Place the eggs in a deli cup filled half way with sand. Make a small indentation in the sand and place the egg there so that it cannot move around. Put a lid on the deli cup and place this inside of an incubator with 100% humidity @ 80-84F. I cannot remember the exact # of days but I think it was around 55-60 days before they hatch. I would not recommend putting more than 4 eggs in each deli cup as the hatchlings are quite skittish and will up-end every other egg in the deli cup if you're not careful.

In any event, I hatched over 100 babies in this manner in 2008 so I am confident it is the best way to incubate Steno eggs.

I hope this helps,

Andy

>>I have six of these little guys, one definately male, one maybe male, and the rest female. They completely demolished their tank the other day moving sand and dirt from one end to the other. So I instantly thought they buried something...EGGS!!!!! However in my attempt to dig them up, I found one and smashed it in the process (BAD MOMMY). So now I need to know how many do they lay and how often? What should I incubate them in Vermiculite or Perlite? What temp and for how long? Anyone who has had experience with these little guys I could really use a little advice. I am expecting another egg soon because I can actually see it in one of them.
