You are right, mlove, about their personalities. And they can be so different, even from the same clutch! A couple of years ago, I got 7 hatchlings from two of the mellowest parent Chucks I have ever had. Well, six of them had the parents' personalities. The 7th, one of the three smallest, would lay in wait for the others, particularly the adults,-- who just shrugged it off as baby bravado,-- and he'd leap out from under the rocks and bite the skin on the side of the adults, and then spin around and hide back under the rocks. He spent the rest of his time chasing the other babies and head-butting them. The fellow I gave him to witnessed the behavior and the fact that I held him up to my face and he lunged and bit my nose and drew blood! He named him "Lurch". The worst part?...Lurch turned out to be female! LOL
