Feeding young coachwhips is a problem. They don't really have a pattern, what one will take another one won't. Start with a pinky, you may get lucky and have him take it right off the bat. If that doesn't work, try small lizards. Some are preferential snake eaters, some like frogs, some even prefer insects. Good luck!
