Posted by: dannygirl8 at Sun Mar 8 22:11:40 2009 [ Report Abuse ] [ Email Message ] [ Show All Posts by dannygirl8 ] My son (12 yrs old) just rescued a firebellied toad from a 7 yr old boy down the street. They had it in a plastic fish bowl filled 1/4 of the way with water and a rock in it. He couldn't seem to get out the water. Because the boy didn't keep it clean, they stuck it in a dark shed outside and fed it occasionally. Our heart broke when we heard this. My son knows a lot about repiles (we have a bearded dragon and 3 box turles). He is very careful to research everything prior to getting a new pet. Unfortunately, we felt if we didn't this poor fella or gal, it would not last much longer. All I had available tonight was a small plastic tank (probably about 2 or so gallon tank. We put some water in it (filtered) and left some land, but not much available. I have read what they eat, but we need to decide on a habitat for him/her. My finances are short right now. I am going to the thrift store tomorrow to see if they have anything. Can he/she survive in a 5 gal.tank.? Glass or plastic is better? I was thinking of a 5 gal tank and putting a decent size bowl for the water and leaving the rest dry land. Please offer your wisdom on this so my son and I both can learn what is best for this poor guy/gal. Thanks, Diane [ Reply To This Message ] [ Subscribe to this Thread ] [ Show Entire Thread ] | ||
