sorry to hear you lost your snake. I've this kind of thing in a few sickly baby snakes. About two thirds of the way down all the sudden the body looks flat and smushed with folds of skin. The snake will eat and be active but not gain weight back or normal shape in that area, and quickly dies. I don't know what this is symptomatic of, but if I had to take a stab at it, I would guess some sort of disease or internal parasite that causes quick and sudden wasting away?
