I Caught a California Alligator Lizard

We went hiking on Monday which was pretty cool and windy and on the way back we saw a juvenile California alligator lizard sitting on the hiking trail basking, so I caught it and kept it because I always wanted one. I was curious as to how many can you have in your possession and is their special laws regarding this subspecies of southern alligator lizard. Already, he has eating a lot of crickets.
