I tried to move my about 8 inch male and about 5 inch female red eared slider in together today in a 90 gallon. It was a new tank for both of them. They swam around for a little while, then he tried to mate with her many times. After a only 2-3 hours together, he attacked her. He snapped at her and got her by the throat. She got away, but has a small wound. So, is this not going to work? Can I get them to get along? I understand that mating is often rough, but I'm not willing to risk her life. Dividing the tank isn't an option. A bigger tank isn't an option right now. A way for them to live in harmony or eternal separation seem to be my options. Is there a way to safely move them in together?

Thanks!
