I got a few ribbons (pictures and discriptions later).... Anyhow I was talking to several people about feeding the baby garters and ribbons. Everyone I talked to had split opinions as to where to get the fish/minnows. I had alot of people say they would be sure to get the feeder guppies from a fish store and of course never get goldfish (I'm already aware goldfish are bad). Some said the rosy red feeders are as bad as goldfish. Half the people said the best feeder fish to buy are going to be from a bait shop. I never thought about a bait shop because I know you don't want to get crickets from a bait shop because of bad quality. Of course some claimed to freeze the fish first to kill parasites but those people just aren't aware that freezing don't kill parasite eggs it only puts them in a suspended state untill thawed and any live parasites would likely have an indirect lifecycle and woudln't infect the animal to begin with. Anyhow enough for the biology lesson. I am curious if the bait shop minnows are good enough for the garters and ribbons? I'm sure they have to be cheaper than the feeders from the pet stores. And if not would it be a good idea to get an aquarium and gutload the minnows with something. And what would be best to gutload the minnows with?
