Posted by: bob at Wed Sep 16 18:32:42 2009 [ Report Abuse ] [ Email Message ] [ Show All Posts by bob ] The problem is if you have 2 males the subordinate male will act like a female and not develop into a strong breeder, females also have a pecking order and the dominate female will drag the lesser female by the frill like a male does when breeding to a female. I use to sex babies by looking at the tail base, males tails will be thicker at the top of the tail and then taper fast where a females tail is a more consistant girth from start to finish. Its been about 7-8 years since I sold my frillies off but it wasnt much of a problem to sex them at a young age. The thing that will hinder you is the fact that you have only 2 to look at, I had large groups of hatchlings where seeing a pattern as I just described much easier. You may have 2 of the same sex and nothing to compare them to? Sometimes you can pop the hemipenes in less then sub adult speciemens but I never really was big on this method. If you do try to pop them its best done grabbing the frillie while it is sleeping and more relaxed, the muscles use to retract the hemipenes are strong. Good luck with them [ Reply To This Message ] [ Subscribe to this Thread ] [ Hide Replies ]
