Even though the snow is very, very clean patternless and pigmentless, if you look closely you can see the reflective remenant of a strong wide dosal stripe indicative of the red-sided. They are both doing well and growing fast, both eat 2 small mice twice a week and both are around 20" and weigh around 60 grams. They should hopfully breed in spring of 2010. I will also be breeding their snow red-sided sibling brother to two different normal Iowa red-sided garters found in my back yard to produce outcrossed double hets for snow. The resulting double hets for snow will be outcrosses between the Kansas and Iowa bloodlines, which hopefully will produce some nice looking albinos, but it may be hard to improve though, as you can see the Kansas one in this photo has a lot of nice red already, but theres only one way to find out, so we shall see in a couple years.
