Well, I've had Mag for a few weeks now. Last week he fell from his perch (about 30" and broke his tail (tail didn't come off). Over the next few days the tail began to turn gangrenous so a visit to the local exotic vet was in order. All in all it was a very pleasant visit, then again I wasn't the one getting half of my tail removed. Mag is parasite free and she was able to remove the infected portion of the tail at a fracture point. She also took the time to ask about housing and diet to make sure I was doing everything correctly (apparently even though it says UVB on the box dosen't mean its a good UVB bulb. Megaray is on the agenda very soon).

The visit cost $110, which is in line with what I pay to take my dog to the vet. In fact the exam and tests done were similar in nature to what my dog routinely gets when she goes to the vet.

I would highly recommend any new owners take their Igs to the vet. It is worth the money to know your pet is healthy and you have the proper set up (turns out I didn't even though I thought I did).
