I have a 45 Gal “H” freshwater tank with a few small spotted puffers and a black ghost knife. I really want to get about a young Mexican Musk Turtle (I know they get very big and I plan to get a bigger tank in the future.) I have never had a turtle and I have a few questions before I get started.

1. Since my tank is almost 3 feet deep, is this too deep for a young MM?
2. Since they are pretty much fully aquatic, do I need a basking area?
3. the puffers are 2” and pretty aggressive, well they bother the as long as it is bigger than them?

Any advice about getting a Mexican Musk would be great, especially on where a good place to get one would be.

Thanks!
