The halogen lighting is just a form of heat for basking which tegus DO need, just a slightly cooler temp.

Tegus do like to bury and dig. It is recommended to provide enough substrate for them to completely cover themselves with or a hide box. I have two that completely bury themselves every night and two that don't (but one sleeps in a hide box).
