is this your female's first year? Is she with a male...and if so is she the only one? Keeping cresteds in a 1.1 pair for long periods of time is stressful for the lizards and dangerous for the female, especially if she is only a year old (just as an example...im not judging). Older crested 2 or 3 years will sometimes lay infertile eggs ...and even if this is a 2 year old and she has just been bred for the first time, she may lay a whole season's worth of infertile eggs. Mine did. This year she is 3 and she has been laying since janurary, with being with the male only 2x for 2 nights each time. All the babies are healthy and they were incubated between 74-84f.

the texture should stay firm and white...if it caves in or starts to yellow, it is either infertile or may be too wet or too dry....if it starts to mold i would say toss it, but a lot of people would differ with me on that.

The best way to tell, is to take the egg, hold it between your fingers (carefully..dont rotate it or the embryo will possibly drown) and take a small LCD flashlight to it. If it is fertile, you will see red veining...and most likely something called a 'magic cheerio'....a red circle in the egg where the embryo attatched itself.

If it is fertile, mark the top with a non toxic marker and you should have a baby crestie in 6 weeks or so!
