This female Red-eared Slider is from Bexar County, Texas, San Antonio River drainage.

Very distinctive and very ornate. You can't really see it, but the very fine lines on top of the head are quite red. You can see some of the orange/red in the carapace markings posterior and posterior marginals. This old gal still has a lot of color. Think how she must have looked as a hatchling. This is your common ordinary everyday South Texas farm stock pond Red-ear. She was wandering through a pasture following a night of rain. The San Antonio River is maybe 2 miles away.
