>>Yesterday I tried putting together my first mouse colony, 1 male with 7 random females in a mixing tub. This morning i witnessed a little bit of squabbling between the male and some of the females and theres dried blood on one of the cardboard tubes.
>>
>>I'm positive the females are female. I've heard mouse colonies are one of those things you set and forget. My question is do I let them settle thier diffrences themselves and replace the male if and when he gets killed or do I try to replace him now?

How old/big were they? Adult mice are not going to settle into a productive breeding group nearly as easily as a group of 6 or 8 week olds. Could be they will settle it and could be they won't. Really hard to say. I would leave it and see. Either way you are taking a chance with a male and this one you already have.
