I have four tegus and the idea of having them all free roam just isn't appealing to me. It sounds messy. I do know people who are able to keep their iguanas free roaming, but they aren't as active as tegus.

Another thing to consider is that in Brazil, you are closer to the ideal circumstances than we are in the US, especially if you do not have an air conditioner in the house. IN most US homes, the air conditioner or heater is running all the time which keeps the temperature and humidity lower than a tegu would refer. So we keep them in enclosures and recreate the natural habitat inside.
