The growth rate depends on different things such as genetics, feeding, temps and quality of food. If you properly gutload the crickets/mealies they will grow quicker, if you feed daily they will grow quicker now these things depend on the geckos ability to properly digest the food, they need an undertank heater with a warm side of 90-95 degrees and cool side of 80-85. I have noticed that babies from my larger females tend to grow faster then those from my smaller female.Generally it takes mine about 6-7 months for my females to reach 40 grams and my males can reach that in about 4-5 months. But I don't know if that is normal I have had people comment on how large they are. As for mealies versus crickets I have no idea I only fed mine crickets.

Here is the dry protien mixture I feed my crickets:
3 cups crushed dry dog and cat food
3 cups chick mash/hog mash
1 cup dried oats
1 cup dried milk (not creamer)
11/2cups fish flakes
1/8 cup calcium powder
I don't measure personally but this is close. This food is constantly available to my crickets, they are raised on it cause I breed my own.
I also give them fresh vegies (carrots, potatos, lettuces and they love zuchini) so they get the moisture they need that way I don't have to have water in the cricket contianer which can get messy.
