Many of you have on your bookshelves Dr. Stebbin's book, Petersen's Field Guide to Western Reptiles and Amphibians. Dr. Stebbins' career has spanned many decades as professor emeritus at the University of California Berkeley where he served as Director of Vertebrate Zoology and Curator of Reptiles and Amphibians. Chuckwallas have long been one of Dr. Stebbin's favorite reptiles. At the age of 94, he is retiring to Eugene, Oregon, to be with his family. At a recent book signing, many of his prints and artwork were also for sale. Maureen was lucky to have found and purchased this awesome oil painting entitled, "Desert Play with Chuckwalla". She has asked me to share the pictures of her and him at the book signing, and the painting with you all, and to wish Dr. Stebbins many happy years of retired life in Oregon!
