I saw a change around the beginning of the month. What I did, besides rearranging the lights and basking spots and upping a few wattages, was to take off the caves for a few hours at mid-day. (I work a lot of split-shifts.) So they'd wake up, bask, start to settle back into he cave around 1-2, and I'd lift the cave off to get more light onto them, which would lead to another session of basking and eating. They're still ending up back in the caves earlier than they were before, but I think they'll be okay. The babies haven't seemed to care. I'm not sure if that's because the adults have a window view, so they're seeing the outside get dark sooner.
I did see Chica sleep on her basking platform the other day time, sort of squeezed into a crevice under the end of a driftwood log. They always climb down to sleep, so that worried me for at the time just 'cause it was odd. But the yesterday she was the last one out and awake, begging for food and leaping right over to yank it from me. Pancho sometimes goes a couple days between meals now, but his body stays rounded and he doesn't seem unhappy so I'm not panicking. When he's hungry, he eats enough to catch up. Chica and Lupe are eating what I'd call lots if I hadn't seen them REALLY eat a lot during breeding season. They occasionally skip one day. Not at the time, just whenever. They're sleeping more, but I suppose there are worse fates than that.
