Its that time of year where the temps here in Louisiana are finally dipping below 60 degrees at night and rain is coming through with the cool fronts. Cold and wet is not a good recipe for red or yellowfoots!! Bringing them indoors for winter really makes me appreciate the space and convenience of outdoor pens, and all the benefits from natural graze and sun. Mine do OK inside and still feed well. They just dont appear as happy or vibrant LOL!! Because I do live in LA, its not uncommon to get nice dry warm weather in the fall and I can sometimes let them out for a couple of days to get natural sun. Unfortunately all those opportunities end eventually and they are home bound until late February/early March. My two redfoots and my one yellowfoot are all juvies to subadults and none are quite full grown. Its amazing to see the growth they put on while outside all spring and summer. However, it makes me groan when I have to set up bigger tubs and pens when they come inside!!! [ Reply To This Message ] [ Subscribe to this Thread ] [ Show Entire Thread ] | ||
