I didn't build it, I bought here on ks. The wood is a soft wood and seems high quality. It seems like pine, but not pine, if that makes any sense. It's not sealed, but it has vinyl flooring all along the bottom and about 6" up the sides for easy cleaning and to prevent water damage.
