He is eating VERY well on guppies and small worms. He does spend all his time looking for a way out of his cage but he's comfortable enough that he tries to take the food from me before it hits the ground so I think he's going to do okay.

Is it possible that he'll get used to his food coming to him and not do well when I let him out in the spring?

And some advice on his setup would be helpful, I had him in this small, plain setup to see if he was eating. Should I upgrade him now that I know he is? He'll be getting better hides but should he be in something larger? Maybe a branch or decorations to give him more cover?

I'm not sure what kind he is.
