Well, it could have been a lot of things, but very possibly a defect from birth that made itself known as time went by. But, goldfish, and driveway-picked worms are both things I would never feed a single snake even a bite of! Frozen minnows would only be a problem if they were minnows that contain thiaminase, because freezing thiaminase-containing fishes worsens the problem.

I had some albino checkereds born once that were "stargazing" and they didn't make it. One lived for a while, he spent a lot of his time crawling around upside down though.
