I have a Mali Uro and a Niger living in the same tank and both are doing extremely well. I rescued the Niger from a pet store after it began to lose extreme weight - they had it titled "red uromastyx." Anyways, my Mali is definitely a male, but I'm not sure of the sex of the Niger. I've had it for about 3-4 months and it is now very...rotund. It eats just about everyday - they both will only eat red leaf lettuce with split peas and bird seed. I'm wondering now if the Niger is gravid - is this possible? My Mali will sit on top of the Niger, but I've never seen breeding behavior. It could just be a tubby little Uro, but how would I know for sure? Anyone know how to properly sex a Niger?
