Bob,

My Costa Rican Pseustes poecilonotus are each about 6ft. I tried breeding last year and got a double clutch of infertiles (was very upset about this). There are things that tell me a portion of this had to do with the size of the female.

My male was the better eater at the time and he was in the 840g range during breeding, she was only in the low 700g area. Now I am keeping temps a little lower in the male enclosure and feeding a little less. They are both about the same weight now in the 825-845g range. The plan is to keep him fed light and keep her pumped up for just a little longer before putting them back together.

I got my pair in Feb 2006 weighing 206g (M), and 176g (F)
They were probably yearlings at a minimum when I got them, possibly closer to two years.

Also, I thought it might be good to note that offering larger meals might be beneficial, as they fill their huge mouths well and make it easy to grip and push down.

Here is the start of my records on the last hatchling I got (likely before first shed)

Acquired 9-9-09 Weighed 14g (shed the day I got it)
(9-10-09) O 1 f/t (5g) hairless mouse –T (11:30 pm)
(9-24-09) O 1 f/t (4-5g) hairless mouse – T (10:30 pm)
