But besides alphabet choice here, i guess the priciple stays sort of the same (correct me if not so) I'm sure that a snake can't produce hormones prior to having a genetic code to even work with. So, it's a chicken and egg problem. During formation, the only hormones that the snake will come in contact with are female hormones (obviously, since the male's job is done and the mother carries from there on).
